Save the date! London 2010 - April 26-28

MedBiquitous is pleased to announce the MedBiquitous Annual Conference and 2nd International Conference on Virtual Patients, which will take place in London, April 26-28, 2010. The conference will focus on the themes of virtual patients, e–learning resources, and social networking. Stay tuned for information regarding abstract submission, and mark your calendars!

Do your Web services need to REST?

The MedBiquitous Technical Steering Committee has released new guidelines regarding two approaches to Web services design. Knowing When to REST: Simple Object Access Protocol vs. Representational State Transfer identifies when it is appropriate to use each approach to Web services. The document can help those interested in learning about REST and SOAP as well as those looking for simpler approaches to Web services design.

Upcoming Meetings

AMEE Conference 2009, August 29-September 2, 2009. Málaga, Spain.
This international medical education conference provides an opportunity to hear about current topics and trends in medical and health professions education. The program includes workshops, posters, short communications on the following topics: quality improvement and practice-based learning, virtual patients, simulation, e–learning, e–portfolios, mobile learning, competency frameworks. In addition, a special symposia on e–learning research is planned.

National Institute for Quality Improvement (NIQIE) 2009: Mastering Continuous Performance Improvement, September 9-11, 2009. Rosemont, Illinois, USA.
This meeting prepares participants to design assessment and ongoing improvement for healthcare professionals and implement performance-based education and performance measurement. Speakers include Nancy Davis, Executive Director of NIQIE, Suzanne Murray and Sean Hayes, AXDEV Global, and Richard Hawkins of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

1st International Workshop on Multi-Type Content Repurposing and Sharing in Medical Education and 9th International Conference on Information Technology and Applications in Biomedicine, November 5-7, 2009. Larnaca, Cyprus.
The aim of this workshop is to elaborate on pedagogical, technical, standardization, cultural, social and legal issues towards a standards based infrastructure that enables the sharing of state of the art digital medical educational content among medical educators and students in European higher academic institutions.

Membership Update

MedBiquitous is pleased to welcome new member CAQH – Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare. CAQH is a nonprofit alliance of health plans and trade associations that works to promote quality interactions between plans, providers and other stakeholders; reduce costs and frustrations associated with healthcare administration; facilitate administrative healthcare information exchange and encourage administrative and clinical data integration.
